About the event

The Bujinkan Nagase Hiroshi Tai-kai is an international weekend seminar dedicated to the Japanese martial art Bujinkan Budō Taijutsu / Ninjutsu, and will be organized as part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of organized Bujinkan practice in Slovenia. Bujinkan Budō Taijutsu / Ninjutsu was spread around the world by Sōke (direct successor) Dr. Hatsumi Masaaki. After his retirement, other Japanese instructors have continued his work, including Dai-shihan Nagase Hiroshi, who will be teaching at this Tai-kai for the first time ever in Europe. The event will be simultaneously translated from Japanese to English and is definitely something not to be missed!

PRACTICE THEME

The theme of the Tai-kai will be 'Ninja Goshin-jutsu' 忍者護身術 (the Art of self-protection of the Ninja warrior). This is the highest level of defense techniques that Hatsumi Sōke taught and spoke about before his retirement. In his unique way, by using the method of Shinken-gata (real application), Nagase Sensei will share his knowledge of Tai-jutsu, Shuriken-jutsu, Jūtte-jutsu, Hanbō-jutsu and Kyoketsu-shōge-jutsu, along with the impressions, feelings and techniques that he received directly from Hatsumi Sōke or developed through years of his own dedicated and austere practice and study.

The event is hosted by Bujinkan Ninpō Dōjō Slovenia, led by Dai-shihan Andrej Jasenc. Although this art was practiced in Slovenia before, in 1995 the Bujinkan Ninpō Dōjō was the first in Slovenia to offer organized practice to a wider audience. As the main Bujinkan center in Slovenia, it has since been responsible for the development, progress and quality of Bujinkan practitioners in the country. With this event, Bujinkan Ninpō Dōjō Slovenia proudly celebrates its 30th anniversary.

Since we will be practicing outdoors, please bring your Keiko-gi (training outfit) and Jika-tabi or other suitable footwear. As for the training equipment, we will be needing a Tanbō (an approx. 20 cm long wooden stick, which will replace Bō-shuriken), a Jūtte (short stick with a hook), a Hanbō (an approx. 100 cm long stick), a Kyoketsu-shōge (dagger with rope and weight) and a Bokken Daitō (long sword). Only wooden or soft weapons are allowed. Please keep in mind that the Tai-kai will take place in the middle of the summer, so make sure to bring adequate sun protection and enough water.

During the Tai-kai there will be an exclusive opportunity to take the Go-dan (5th Dan) test administered by Nagase Sensei.
However there are some requirements:

  • You must hold the rank of Yon-dan (4th dan) for at least one year prior to the date of the test.
  • When applying for the test, you must submit a copy of your Yon-dan certificate issued by the Hombu office.
  • Only certificates issued by the Hombu office will be accepted. All certificates will be verified with the Office prior to the Tai-kai.
  • All submissions must be made at least one month before the Tai-kai and no later than July 22nd.
  • Upon submission you will have to provide: your full name, the date when you received your Yon-dan rank, the name of the teacher who awarded the rank, a high-resolution scan of your Yon-dan certificate (no blurring when enlarged), readable in Japanese.
  • All submissions should be sent to info@nagasetaikai.com with the subject: Go-dan test
